(Switch language to German)
I am Ready, born in Germany in the summer of 1983. Educated in computer science and wholesales and currently working as a web developer and designer in an advertising agency

Game development and modding games has been my passion since 1998 and I've worked on numerous projects during all these years. My specialty are stylized open outdoor areas.

Aside from game development I design web sites and custom templates for about any content management system and forum software there is, including custom hacks and modifications to suit pretty much any particular needs.

Naruto: Naiteki Kensei or NNK for short is a free online multiplayer game, created as a fan-project for many others to enjoy. Players are able to transverse through full 3D environments, utilizing various ways of movement such as walking on walls, water, or dashing around the streets of a village.

It is a total-conversion of Half-Life 1, meaning the game was created based on the Half-Life engine. In order to play, an installed steam client and a an installed copy of Half-Life through steam is required. Naruto: Naiteki Kensei has been officially released to the public! The first release consists of Team 7, which includes Hatake Kakashi, Haruno Sakura, Uchiha Sasuke and Uzumaki Naruto. Each character has three specific Jutsus at their disposal.

The Taijutsu or melee system is very simple to learn but takes a lot of practice to become the best. The primary function allows players to attack consecutively for five hits before sending your opponent sliding back. The secondary function allows players to knock their opponents into the air, where various other methods of attack can then be executed, such as throwing a weapon, performing a Jutsu, or jumping in the air to continue an aerial combo.

Gameplay consists of three main systems: Weapons that take advantage of a quickfire system, Jutsus that make use of combo based inputs, and Taijutsu abilities that can transfer into aerial combos!

Working on Naiteki Kensei was a lot of fun! And a lot of hard work for that matter! I've been working as mapper, texture and 3D artist on NNK as well as maintaining the forums, taking care of our public ModDB profile and publications and designing the actual game together with the rest of the core team developers.

With both NNK and ESF, we naturally tried to push the aging Goldsource engine as far as we could and added a ton of cool things to it. In the end I think we succeeded in creating something fun and unique that everyone can enjoy for free. Even though we had to leave out some of the systems and features we had in mind, NNK R1 was great success and a fun learning experience.

R2 is currently being worked on and it will contain most of the features we had to leave out for NNK R1

Earth's Special Forces or ESF for short is a Dragon Ball Z total conversion of Half Life 1.

You are able to select one of 9 different Dragon Ball Z characters and use them to blow your opponents away with KI attacks or simply punch and kick them to death with the unique melee system that is designed for fast game play. But don't mistake ESF for a fighter as it is a third person action game with full 3D freedom of movement.

The characters you can select are Buu, Cell, Frieza, Gohan, Goku, Krillin, Piccolo, Vegeta and Trunks. In version ESF 1.2.3 each character has 1 transformation that you have to unlock, but it gives you a significant strength and speed boost. But since the workings of ESF are designed for speed you should make a note that while learning the workings of the game is as simple as reading the manual provided with the game, but actually perfecting the tricks requires a lot of practice. So don't be discouraged if you join a server for the first time and you die a lot. But while ESF is not easy for beginners its unique game play is something that should appeal even people who are not fans of the anime.

I started to work on ESF in December 2003, pretty much exactly two years after I joined the forums as a fan when I began to create custom maps for ESF. I spent most of my time on ESF as the head mapper where I had to coordinate and tutor other mappers. Thought we were always few mappers on the team. Recently I stepped down from my position and got demoted to part time developer due to lack of activity in the mod. I was/am also, as everyone in the team, also involved in designing the gameplay and systems for upcoming releases.

In total, I've had a great time working on the modification and made loads of friends over the years. I even flew across the globe to attend to another developers wedding. Not to mention all the things I've learned working on a project of such scale. Good times.

MechMod is a total conversion of the Half-Life engine and is based on Mecha or Mechs (note: You require Steam and a legitimate copy of Half-Life to be able to play MechMod Alpha). We have already released a primary Alpha 1.0 version of the mod, which was based on mechs taken from the Gundam and Macross/Robotech series. Alpha 1.0 was a 'test' release which the team put together while waiting for Half-Life 2 to go public, and the Alpha was also considered as a stepping stone towards something much bigger.

MechMod has been featured on multiple reputable web sites, and was also given a full page in the January 2005 edition of the PC GAMER UK magazine

MechMod stresses the importance of strategy, player reflexes, and teamplay all put together. Whether you want to play fast-paced or slow - MechMod has all the options available for you. The player has the ability to pick from different classes of mechs and customize them to his/her needs and desires. Our originally planned Beta version (for Half-Life 2 instead of 1) included designs for mecha customization, which would not only affect the aesthetics of your mech, but also the feel and usage of it.

To find out more about how to play MechMod, the different mechs available, how to use bots, etc. refer to the manual found in the bonus folder of your MechMod folder (once installed).

Back in the days I spent my time working on the Half-Life 2 version of Mechmod. At that time, the source engine was just released and everything was new and exciting. Unfortunately MechMod for Half-Life 2 was a bit over ambitious and never made it to a really playable state, so we decided to discontinue the project and move on.

Miscellaneous Projects

Ready's Marble Game

A small game prototype I wrote around christmas 2007 for fun. Its built on the A7 engine and was written entirely from scratch in C-Script. Though it is only a few thousand lines worth of code.

The game mechanics were pretty much done but I decided to drop the game project nonetheless. Perhaps I was simply to lazy to create all the assets and so on required for a "real" game, or casual game for that matter. It was fun to write this prototype anyways and I learned a few new things on the way as well so it was definitely worth the effort.

Gamers-Desire

Gamers-Desire

"Gamers-Desire started off as a small network of web sites dedicated to provide you, the fans and fellow modders out there, all the information and custom files for all your favorite mods...

It all started when ESF-Word was still run by Max2 and DJ-Ready together. Our sponsor at that time kept getting worse in terms of bandwidth and other restrictions. At some point Max2 left the project for personal reasons and so SKizer and Ready ventured into the unknown and continued ESF-World without any sponsorship and started Gamers-Desire.

Admittedly it never really took off and we were always stuck with ESF-World as the sole public network web site Even though there were sister sites such as TS-World and NS-World (The Specialists and Natural Selection), those were, even though technically complete, never made public due to a lack of content and/or staff members to maintain such a web site
"

Basically a web site project that grew from ESF-World (a place to host custom made ESF fan content) into a (supposedly) multi mod web site Over the years I wrote several different versions of the web site, which is currently online as version 7.

Future Projects

Project Webspider

A web crawler based on regular expressions.

Essentially a self updating link directory with some additional community functions (such as: favorites, recently read, suggested series, ratings, flagging and tagging, etc).

Its based entirely on php/xhtml,mysql and cron jobs for automatisation (adds newly found links, checks and removes dead links, computes toplists and statistics, etc). Unfortunately it never went online since I simply lack the time to do the initial promotion and to do the required community and maintenance work.

It was fun to write though and I surely learned a few new things on the way. :)
